The Centre for Environmental Management (CEM) is a research and post-graduate training centre within the School of Geography, University of Nottingham. The University is one of the leading institutions of higher education in the UK, and the School of Geography, was ranked sixth for Research Power among UK Geography Departments in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise. Since its establishment in 1998, CEM has become recognised for its work on sustainable landscape development and countryside policy. Its work places particular emphasis on the analysis of ES and NC at broad spatial scales.
CEM has successfully won significant competitive research funding for its work on NC accounting (EEA), the analysis of environmental limits and thresholds (EU & Defra), ES scenarios (Defra) and the mapping and modelling of ES (EU, Natural England). It also has experience in working with stakeholders using a range of participatory methods.
