Final OpenNESS Annual Meeting in Smolenice, Slovakia

OpenNESS partners play a leading role in the launch of ESCom-Scotland

OpenNESS Scottish partner the Centre for Ecology & Hydrology (CEH) is one of the four founding organisations who launched an exciting new initiative that aims to support better management of Scotland’s natural resources. The initiative - ESCom Scotland: an Ecosystem Service Community for Scotland - was launched at an evening reception on Tuesday 29th April 2014.

The reception was followed by a day focused on the links between policy makers, researchers and practitioners and a second day focused on the science of ecosystem service research. The OPERAs project was well represented as well and initiatives to join case studies and exemplars were taken forward. Sandra Luque (photo) presented the exciting research linked to the case study 'Regional and national forest management planning' in the Vercors Mts Range in the 'Futures and Scenarios' session while Laurence Carvalho explained the research they are conducting in case study 'Consequences of EU Water Policy for the Delivery of Ecosystem Services' at Loch Leven in the 'Frameworks, Indicators and Data' session.
